Frequently Asked Questions
What makes ZO® Skin Health products different from regular skincare?
ZO® Skin Health was developed by dermatologist Dr. Zein Obagi and uses physician-grade ingredients in formulations not available over the counter. The products are designed to work at a deeper level to correct the underlying causes of skin concerns, not just mask them.
Is the ZO 3-Step Peel® the same as a chemical peel?
The ZO 3-Step Peel® is a unique resurfacing treatment that combines exfoliation, retinol stimulation, and a multi-acid blend. It is more controlled than many traditional chemical peels and is designed to improve skin texture and tone with manageable downtime.
Will my skin peel after the ZO 3-Step Peel®?
Yes, some peeling is expected and is part of the resurfacing process. Peeling typically begins a few days after treatment and lasts several days. Your provider will walk you through exactly what to expect and how to care for your skin during this time.
Is this facial appropriate for sensitive skin?
The ZO® Skin Health Facial can be adjusted for different skin types, including more sensitive skin. Your provider will select the appropriate products and protocols based on your skin’s current condition and tolerance.
How many sessions will I need?
Many patients see significant improvement after a single session, but a series of three to six treatments spaced two to four weeks apart tends to deliver the most consistent corrective results. Your provider will recommend a plan based on your goals.
Can I wear makeup after the ZO® Skin Health Facial?
If the ZO 3-Step Peel® is not included, most patients can resume makeup the following day. If peeling is expected, we recommend keeping your skin bare and well moisturized while it heals for the best outcome.
